Luis Maroto was born in North Carolina, but shortly thereafter relocated to West Palm Beach Florida, where he still resides today.
Luis’ father, his role model and a 25-year veteran of the West Palm Beach Police Department, instilled in Luis a sense of responsibility to help those in need.
Luis graduated from Suncoast Community High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in legal studies with a minor in sociology from the University of Central Florida. During his time at the University of Central Florida, Luis was a member of Volunteer Advocates for Children where he worked with Attorneys in the Guardian Ad litem program to help children in the dependency system. Luis was also a member of the Young Men’s Leadership Program, where he mentored at-risk youth. The desire to help others and his sense of fulfillment in doing so was the impetus that made him want to become an attorney. Luis went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate from Florida A&M University College of Law in 2018.
After obtaining his law degree, Luis returned to South Florida, where his passion for zealous courtroom advocacy and helping others, led him to work as a criminal defense attorney at the Broward County Public Defender’s office. Luis began in the Juvenile Division, working his way up to the Felony Division where he represented clients on charges up to second-degree felonies—i.e., charges where clients faced up to fifteen years in Florida state prison. Luis learned to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and developed his skills as a litigator by writing and arguing countless motions in court, leading weekly depositions, conducting pretrial discovery, and handling many other general litigation matters while maintaining communication with his clients.
Luis joined Keller, Keller, Caracuzzo, Cox & Belluccio in 2021, after working close to three years at the Broward County Public Defender’s office. Luis brings with him the experience he gained as an effective advocate both in and out of the courtroom. Luis continues to fight for others by representing those who have been injured throughout the State of Florida.
